A Garden Grows in Brooklyn...
images and words by Jay Wen
Check out what has come up so far this Spring and our crazy pack of animals that roam the garden!
A new world... created entirely from our imaginations with a desire to rewild Brooklyn.
The man-made pond Jason created. This is where dinosaurs roam and broken glass goes to get a second life.
The sub-irrigated planter. Lots of different greens, spinach, mustard mizuna, arugula, and collard greens. The lettuce has been the best performer yet and survived slugfest 2017.
3 out of 4 animals, a little traffic jam on the bridge.
Bella Bear, when not hunting mice.
Wild thing Barack getting his exercise on... kittens have a LOT of energy lol. Letting a cat be a cat.
Don't be fooled by his cute face. He is the most devious son of a gun. Surrounded by bird feeders... mmhmm... you know what he's up to.
New found appreciation for sage...
Japanese fern. I knew this fern was going to last through all summer into fall and I am so happy to see it come back a second year.
My fascination of carnivorous plants... This pitcher plant is hanging above the pond just waiting for lunch to be served.
One of my favorite trees in the garden. We've added quite a few.
Magnolia tree now planted in the ground, in place of the dead tree. Hope to see it bloom again this year.
We created this Native Garden after the dead tree fell over. I am liking this view a lot more!
