Do It Yourself: Easy 3 Ingredient Natural Hand & Body Cream
Did you know that your skin is the largest organ on your body? It absorbs anything and everything you put on it.
In my efforts in using only natural products in my skin care, I have been experimenting with making hand and body creams for the past few years. I thought it would be fun to make something all natural that can customize to my liking and I know exactly what ingredients I am putting in it.
Here is the simplest recipe that will take you less than 20 minutes. I don't like to get too complicated with DIY's.
1 part shea butter, buy here
1/2 part olive oil, buy here
1/2 part coconut oil, buy here
**Optional, add 10-20 drops essential oil of your choice. I used lavender, rosemary and lemon. (P.S. After a crazy winter with the weather fluctuating, I developed a case of eczema. Using this mixture of essential oils helped repair my salmon red skin(!) and reduced the scarring. )
In a double boiler, melt the shea butter, olive oil and coconut oil. Pour mixture into container you're going to use, add essential oils and mix. Put in the freezer for 30 minutes to solidify. Then you can use it right away.
For a fluffier texture: Pour mixture into the container and let it sit in freezer for 30 mins. After 30 mins, whisk the mixture until it looks creamy. *Add essential oil and whisk. Then put into a small glass jar.
I have tried non-whisked and whisked and I do prefer the whisked version.
